Retreats, 5K races and walks, a father-son day of service, and more — plus the spring Theology on Tap series begin in Cincinnati and Dayton. March 30, Talk on Addiction and Recovery by Jason Merrick at Catholic Charities (Latonia, KY), 6:45 pm. Sponsored by Catholic Charities – Diocese of Covington and PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones). A recovering heroin addict, Merrick directs a treatment/recovery program at the Kenton County Detention Center and will offer a message of hope for people struggling with addictions and their families. No fee.

April 1-3,  One Silence, A Diversity of Voices Retreat at the Jesuit Spiritual Center at Milford. Dr. Christopher Pramuk will direct this three-day retreat for men and women. Building from Jesuit theologian Karl Rahner’s famous intuition that the religious person of the future “will be a mystic or nothing at all,” this retreat weaves together periods of silence with shared prayer and reflection, drawing from the insights of four modern-era mystical theologians: Abraham Heschel, Dorothee Soelle, Thomas Merton, and Howard Thurman. April 2-3, Divine Comedy Contemplative Retreat at the Bergamo Center for Lifelong Learning (Dayton, OH), 9 am – 3 pm.  This one-day retreat will serve as a general introduction to the poetic masterpiece of Dante Alighieri as a journey of spiritual transformation in the context of the current Jubilee of Mercy during which Pope Francis has invited the faithful to prayerfully read the Divine Comedy. April 3, 7th Annual Elder Family Fun Walk, 1pm. Non-competitive 5K walk through “Elder Country “ (Price Hill/Cincinnati). $10 person (maximum $50/family) includes picnic in The Pit, t-shirt, face painting more. April 3, 17th Annual Divine Mercy Celebration at St. Bartholomew Church (Finneytown, OH),  2 pm. Fr. Cyril Whittaker, SJ, will lead the celebration featuring the Rosary and a talk, followed with Confession from 2:30 – pm (10 priests will be present to hear Confession), and Benediction at 3 pm, the Hour of Mercy.

April 7, “What Are You Doing for Easter? A Field Guide to the 50 Days of Joy and Mercy” Talk by Amy McEntee at Oregon Express (Dayton, OH), 7 pm. A Dayton Theology on Tap event. April 10, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Glee Club Concert at Mercy West Hospital Auditorium, 2 pm. Presented by the Auxiliary of West Hospital, the concert is free but donations in any amount will be accepted for the Auxiliary, which raises money for charitable care, capital purchases, and scholarships.
