Pilgrims touch the Rock of Agony at the Church of All Nations in Israel after Mass commemorating Christ’s Agony i the Garden. The windows and organ pipes provide a glimpse of the ornate church built around the bare rock believed to be the site of Christ’s Agony.

Retired Archdiocese of  Cincinnati priest Fr. Rob Waller, former pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Milford (OH), led a pilgrimage to the Holy Land this this spring. Fr. Waller has a special love for the Holy Land, and in particular for Beit Jala (the ancient Christian town at Bethlehem). Here pilgrims kneel at the Rock of the Agony during Mass in the Church of All Nations. The ornate church is built over the rock believed to be the site of Christ’s Agony in the Garden.

“After all had received Communion, we had a few minutes of personal-together time, just like we do at every Mass after Communion,” said Fr. Waller. “Except this time we were at the rock of Jesus’ agony. Pilgrims sat, knelt, laid on heads and hands, touched, kissed, looked, closed eyes – whatever” they wanted to do.
