Photo: Honduran Cardinal Makes Surprise Visit to Seton
In town last week for several talks, Oscar Cardinal Rodriguez Maradiaga of Honduras, SDB, made a last-minute visit to Seton High School, where he shared personal stories about Pope Francis and told students they were “like torches of faith” and should pass on that faith to others.
Cardinal Rodriguez scheduled the visit that day, after a change in his schedule left an opening. “Last month a group of Seton students and staff went on a mission trip to Honduras, where they had the privilege of meeting Cardinal Rodríguez,” says Christy Dean Schutte, spokesperson for the Price Hill/Cincinnati school. “The Cardinal told the group that he would love to visit Seton in the future. Of course, they thought he was being very polite and never imagined that this would actually happen!”
The Cardinal had another surprise for students and faculty: An accomplished pianist, he played a piano that “just happened” to be on the school’s stage.
