July 26 – Aug. 3, 27th Annual Summer Bible Institute at Xavier University. Sponsored by Presentation Ministries, the event features Jesse Romero, Deacon Ralph Poyo, and many area priests and instructors in a variety of presentations of varying lengths, as well as Masses and other liturgies. Aug. 3, Sr. Nicole Trahern profession of final vows as a Marianist sister at the University of Dayton’s Immaculate Conception Chapel (Dayton, OH), 4 pm.
Aug. 3, Seton High School Annual Garage Sale, Price Hill (OH), 9 am – 2 pm.
Aug. 3-4, 14th Annual DCCH Center for Children and Families Flea Market (Crestview Hills, KY). Volunteers have been collecting antiques, clothing, pictures, home décor, new items, furniture and more for the past 12 month for this annual fundraising event. Aug. 6, Interfaith Prayer Vigil on the Death Penalty at Precious Blood parish in Dayton (OH), 7 pm. Date is the night before Billy Slagle is scheduled to be executed by the state of Ohio.
August 6 – 14, Novena to the Blessed Virgin at St. Bernard Grotto, St. Bernard Church (Springfield, OH). 7 pm each day.
Aug. 8, Mass for the Feast of St. Dominic and Vocation Event at St. Gertrude Parish (Madeira, OH), 11:30 am. Young men considering a vocation to the Dominicans are invited to meet with the Dominican novices and priests before or after Mass. Contact the vocations director here.
Aug. 9, Annual Our Lady of Fatima Mass, living rosary and procession at the Spiritual Center of Maria Stein, 7 pm. Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp will celebrate. Bring lawn chairs, a flashlight, and warm clothing.
Aug. 9 – 11 30th Annual Dayton Liederkranz-Turner Germanfest Picnic at Carillon Park (Dayton). Live German Music, German food and beer, kids rides, German goods and crafts for sale, Bavarian Fashion Show and Best German Beard Contest Saturday, 5K Race/Walk Friday, Polka Mass 11 am Sunday. Aug. 10, Marriage and Family Day Retreat at the Jesuit Spiritual Center in Milford. Professional juggler and storyteller Tom Sparough and his wife Geralyn will lead this day-long event for the entire family. To register email Mary Ellen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Aug. 11: Educating Young People in Justice and Peace in-service program for high school teachers at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Inspired by Pope Benedict’s World Day of Peace message, this half-day program will focus on how to integrate Bl. Pope John XXIII’s encyclical Pacem in Terris into the curriculum.
Aug. 11, Sanctus 13 with Matt Mahar and Audrey Assad at the Spiritual Center of Maria Stein (Maria Stein, OH), 6 pm. Sponsored by the Northern Network of Catholic Youth Ministers of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. For information click here.
Aug. 11 -16, Catholic Summer Youth Camp at Woodland Lakes Christian Camp in Amelia (OH). Adventure camp for grades 6 – 8 that includes the sacramental life, mission, and work of the Catholic Church, and challenges young people to embrace their baptismal call by living lives of holiness.
