Bill Donaghy to Speak at Banquet for Life

Keynote speaker Bill Donaghy.

International prolife leader Bill Donaghy will speak at the April 26 Banquet for Life celebrating Pregnancy Center East’s 30th anniversary.

Over years with the Pontifical Mission Service, Donaghy has worked in Haiti, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic as well as the United States. Trained in the Theology of the Body by Christopher West, Donaghy speaks throughout the country on Pope John Paul II’s theology about human sexuality as well as about how to build a culture of life today. He is a frequent guest on Sacred Heart Radio’s Son Rise Morning Show.

“Our goal for the Banquet, this milestone anniversary year, is to highlight the strong growth our chastity education program has had in recent years,” says Director Laura Curran. “Reaching students with the message of chastity is ultimately the best way to prevent crisis pregnancies.” Last year the program, called In Control, reached more than 4000 area middle school and high school students.

Over the past 30 years, Curran says, Pregnancy Center East has helped 5000 clients. Services include free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, pregnancy and adoption information, parenting education, and a post-abortion healing program, as well as material assistance to mothers. One key to the organization’s success, she says, is its long-term relationship with volunteers. Last year volunteers from throughout the Greater Cincinnati area logged more than 4000 hours.

“It’s been a privilege to work in this arena for all these years to promote the dignity of every person, no matter how small,” says 30-year volunteer Barb Momper. “I have received the gift of friendship from all those involved-it has enriched my life.”

Volunteers are key to Pregnancy Center East’s success. These volunteers are students from the College of Mt. St. Joseph.

The Banquet for Life will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Cincinnati. Dinner begins at 5:30, and the program will run from 7-9 pm. Tickets are $50 ($25 for people 25 and under). For reservations, information about PCE, or to volunteer or donate baby clothes and other items, call (513) 321-3100.
